Agenda
본 프로젝트는 젊은 예술가 유입, 커뮤니티 형성을 거쳐 젠트리피케이션을 겪으며 문화 예술 활동이 사라져가는 문래동 사이트에 새로운 문화 커뮤니티의 거점을 만들고자 하는 아이디어에서 시작했다.
오랜 역사가 쌓이며 견고해진 문화는 그 결속력과 다른 문화 예술로의 영향력이 강하다. 하지만 동시에 진입 장벽이 너무 견고해서 새로운 유입이 어렵다는 한계를 가지고 있다. 견고한 커뮤니티와 진입 장벽의 해소, 두 개념이 한 공간에서 공존할 수 있을까?
‘공연’은 오랜 시간 쌓여 온 대중 음악 팬덤의 튼튼한 기반이 있을 뿐만 아니라 소비자가 하나가 되어 열광하는 특성을 가지고 있다. 또한, 주기적으로 컨텐츠가 바뀌어 다양한 팬덤 커뮤니티를 수용 가능하며, 잠재적 소비자의 유입으로도 이어질 수 있다. 누구나 공연에 가볍게 접근하여, 우연히 자신의 문화를 찾아가는 과정이 이루어질 수 있다면 진입 장벽이 없는 보편적 문화가 형성될 수 있다고 생각한다.
This project began with the idea of creating a new cultural community hub in Mullae-dong, a site where cultural and artistic activities have gradually disappeared as the area experienced an influx of young artists, the formation of creative communities, and eventually gentrification.
A culture strengthened through a long history possesses strong cohesion and influence over other cultural and artistic fields. At the same time, however, its very strength can create barriers to entry, making it difficult for newcomers to participate. Can these two seemingly conflicting concepts—a strong, cohesive community and the removal of entry barriers—coexist within a single space?
Live performances offer not only a solid foundation built upon decades of popular music fandom, but also a unique capacity to unite audiences through shared enthusiasm and collective experience. Furthermore, because the content changes regularly, performance venues can accommodate a wide range of fandom communities while attracting potential new participants. If anyone can engage with performances casually and, through that experience, unexpectedly discover a culture that resonates with them, then it may be possible to foster a more universal form of culture—one without barriers to entry.
Concept
공연장의 컨셉은 참여의 단계를 이루는 레이어가 흐려지며 수직, 수평의 방향으로 확장해나가는 것이다. 팬덤(코어 타깃)에서 단순 소비자를 거쳐 잠재적 소비자까지 단계를 확장한다. 소비자가 될 가능성이 있는 지역주민까지 타깃으로 잡는다면 궁극적으로는 지역 사회와 문화 시설의 공존이 이루어질 수 있다.
The concept of the live hall is based on blurring the layers of participation and expanding them vertically and horizontally. It broadens its reach from fandoms(the core target audience), to general audiences, and further to potential audiences. By extending its target to local residents who may become future audiences, the venue ultimately seeks to foster a coexistence between the cultural facility and the local community.

사이트는 영등포구 문래동에 위치한다. 문래역과 영등포역이 양 옆에 위치하고 있어 접근성이 우수하며, 사이트 주변으로 주거지가 분포하고 있으므로 도보를 통한 지역 주민의 통행이 많을 것으로 예상된다.
The site is located in Mullae-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu. With Mullae Station and Yeongdeungpo Station nearby, the site benefits from excellent accessibility. In addition, residential neighborhoods surround the site, suggesting a high volume of pedestrian traffic from local residents.
Design
관람객들은 외부 슬로프를 통해 공연장 층으로 이동하고, 지역 주민들은 1층의 광장으로 모여든다. 우연히 흘러나오는 음악을 듣고 잠재적 소비자가 내부로 들어가게 됨으로써 공연장 내 참여의 단계가 확장된다.
Visitors access the performance hall level via the exterior ramp, while local residents gather in the plaza on the ground floor. As passersby are drawn in by music spilling out from the venue, potential audiences are encouraged to enter, expanding the spectrum of participation within the performance hall.
Program
가변형 좌석은 공연의 형태에 맞춰 최적화된다. 소규모 쇼케이스, 콘서트, 페스티벌 등 다양한 공연형태에 대응할 수 있다. 좌석의 일부가 상영관, 커뮤니티 라운지로 변형되어 공연이 없을 때에는 지역 주민을 위한 문화 공간으로서 기능한다.
The variable seating system can be configured to suit different performance formats. It accommodates a wide range of events, including small-scale showcases, concerts, and festivals. Parts of the seating can be transformed into theater or community lounge, allowing the venue to function as cultural space for local residents when no performances are taking place.
